Hello, and welcome to the blog! I’m Madeline.

Why the blog?

I have loved reading since I was a little girl. Some of my favorites were J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, J.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and Jane Austin’s Emma. Stories were places of magic and monsters, with princes and heroines. Falling asleep at night, I would tell myself stories. And my sister and my own’s favorite games were the make-believe.

I began creative writing in college as an exercise for myself, as a platform to explore themes of growing up, envy, childhood love, and more. For the last five years, I have written short stories and worked towards longer novels. Through the practice of writing, I developed a desire to share my stories with others.

This blog is attempt to reach out and do just that.

A little about me:

I was born and raised in West Texas, and I spent four years in Southern California for my undergraduate education at Westmont College. Currently, I live in Durham, NC with my three-legged cat, Kitty, and am working towards a Ph.D in Chemistry.
